LIVES CHANGED

In my position at UCLA College Communications, I worked with the Assistant Director of Communications, Senior Associate Director of Communications, and other team members to construct a website to showcase the College’s fundraising efforts and achievements for each of the five academic departments. After we collectively created a sitemap, I created the wireframes and mockups for the website shown below. These mockups went through multiple iterations as the Assistant Director and I received feedback from the College Development team and the College Communications team throughout. This feedback prompted critical discussions about the goals of the platform, the target audience, and the user experience/flow, which helped us reconsider and improve the design of the site during the process. Once a final set of mockups was approved by the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Development, I collaborated with the Assistant Director and a back-end web developer from the IT team to build the website using Wordpress. The website went live in May 2019 but a year or so after after my departure it was taken down.

On the homepage, we wanted to feature highlighted or new posts from the other pages, such as bios, departmental initiatives or capital projects.

This is the Undergraduate Support page, which displays initiatives that people can donate to that are specifically for undergraduate students across all the departments. The other pages, also categories of philanthropic gifts, would look similar.

On the Stories page, when a user clicks the ‘read more’ link on a tile, it flips to reveal that person’s story.

This is what the Student page would look once ‘read bio’ is clicked and the tile is flipped to reveal a person’s story.

Each department has a page under the Ideas section and this is the one I mocked up for Life Sciences which contains all the department’s fundraising initiatives and indicates what category of philanthropic support they fall into.

The Give To section hosts the three categories that philanthropic gifts fall into. This page is a hub for highlighted content from the pages in this section.

This is the Stories page where particular student, faculty, alumni, donor bios can be highlighted.

In the Stories section, each of the four categories—students, faculty, alumni, and donors—has it’s own page where users can view those specific bios. This is the Student page which displays all the student bios. All the other pages in the Stories section are designed like this one.
